Here they are. Our winners. Our shining lights. Our heroes among heroes.
Meet our Home hero, Paul
Paul was nominated by his daughter Samantha because he spends most of his spare time working to get more trees planted in Newcastle upon Tyne. He is a tree warden and chair of Friends of Newcastle Trees which tries to protect, promote and plant in Newcastle.
He has got the local council to increase their planting, he gives talks to various groups across the city on the benefits of trees, and is visiting Samantha's school to help educate the next generation.
Paul has won a home energy makeover. This includes loft and cavity wall insulation and a goody bag of energy efficiency products from the EDF Energy Shop.

Meet our Travel hero, Leon
Leon, nominated by local organic farmer Mark, has worked tirelessly for over 5 years, setting up and running a community recycling project called Bridport TLC for no personal financial gain. It is entirely self funded by processing locally sourced waste vegetable oil into biodiesel, sold within the local community.
Local taxi drivers, organic farmers, therapists, butchers and other environmentally conscious road users are all able to continue their necessary journeys in a more ethical manner thanks to Leon.
Leon wins bikes for his family.

Meet our Food hero, Chris
Juanita nominated her colleague, Chris. Over the past two years, he has turned a derelict yard on the High Street into a thriving, green, pleasant and bountiful community garden to be used by the public. There are beds full of vegetables, fruit, and a beautiful Celtic tree carving. There are also various options for composting and recycling.
He's now sourcing furniture so that the elderly can sit and enjoy the area too. Chris has laboured long and hard and the local community are all benefitting from his work.
Chris' prize is a visit to a farmers' market with low carbon restauranteur, Jamie Grainger Smith. And lunch for four with Smith at Acorn.
