The EDF Energy London Eye

  • Looking at a new low-carbon vision for Britain

Just before dawn, on the morning of 25 January 2011, EDF Energy lit up the sky to celebrate its new partnership with the London Eye. This aims to inspire those in London and beyond to live a cleaner, lower-carbon lifestyle.

As Britain's largest producer of low-carbon electricity, EDF Energy is looking to lead the energy change and make a real difference.

They've already committed to matching all of the electricity used by the London Eye with electricity generated from low-carbon sources. And in the run up to London 2012, they'll be bringing power to the Olympic Park and helping support more infrastructure for electric vehicles in the capital.

EDF Energy is also the force behind Team Green Britain, a growing movement of hundreds of thousands of people helping to fight climate change.

  • Klass act

TV presenter, Myleene Klass was at the launch of the EDF Energy London Eye. As a Team Green Britain ambassador, she's pledged to live a lower-carbon lifestyle.

'It was incredibly exciting to stand on the riverbank this morning and watch the sky light up in a powerful symbol to inspire us all to think about our own carbon footprint.

As a mum expecting my second child, it really makes sustainability issues hit home. I want to do my part to fight climate change and protect the planet for future generations.'

If you'd like to join Myleene, and find out how you can start to reduce your carbon footprint in your home, and in the way you eat and travel, you can sign up to Team Green Britain today.

  • An eye to the future

EDF Energy has one of the biggest environmental and social programmes of any British energy company.

They are the official energy utilities partner and a sustainability partner of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Through Team Green Britain they also help people across Britain reduce their carbon footprints, and save energy and money too.

And now with their partnership with the London Eye, they're inspiring even more people to save today and save tomorrow.
